How to play — PortaCollector

Quick instructions, controls, scoring, and tips to help you beat the leaderboard.

Quick Start

Click Start in the game's HUD to begin a 30 second round. Portacabins will appear and move around — click a cabin to collect points!

Rules & Scoring

  • Hit a cabin: +10 points per click.
  • Miss (click empty space): −2 points and counts as a miss.
  • Time limit: Default round length is 30 seconds.
  • Leaderboard: If you score > 0 at the end, you can save your name to the local leaderboard stored in your browser.

Controls

  • Mouse / Tap: Click portacabin icons to score.
  • Keyboard: Space — Start / Pause; R — Reset.
  • Pause: Use the Pause button or Space to stop the round at any time.

Difficulty

The difficulty slider controls spawn frequency and behavior:

  • 1 (Easy): Slow spawns, fewer cabins.
  • 5 (Insane): Fast spawns, many cabins — for pros.

Tips & Strategy

  • Focus on clustering zones — when cabins group, click the densest one first.
  • Don’t spam clicks — misses cost points. Aim carefully.
  • Use pauses to reset your timing and calm your aim during intense waves.
  • Higher difficulty gives more points opportunity but requires faster reactions.

Accessibility

Game includes keyboard support (Space/R). The HUD updates aria-live content so screen readers see live score/time changes. If you need a high-contrast mode or larger elements, use your browser zoom or let me know and I can add an accessibility toggle.

Troubleshooting

  • If cabins don’t spawn, try resizing the browser or reloading the page (some older browsers pause background timers).
  • Leaderboard is stored locally. Clearing site data will reset it.
  • Sound: the game uses short synthesized sounds — enable audio in the toolbar if unaware.
